Wismar University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design
Founded as an academy of engineering by Robert Schmidt in 1908, Wismar University of applied sciences has grown into an institution at the site over more than 100 years.
More than 8,000 students currently benefit from the interdisciplinary tuition and research at its three schools, covering engineering, economics and design. These schools encompass the departments of civil engineering, electrical engineering and IT, mechanical engineering/process and environmental technology, navigation, business administration, business informatics, business law, architecture as well as design/interior decoration. In the shape of WINGS GmbH the university also has a fast-growing distance learning institute that provides lifelong further training for the workforce.
Apart from the high-quality training and first-rate technical equipment the university and its Forschungs-GmbH also provides support for business start-ups through know-how and contacts with the regional and international business community.
